Pukulan Cimande Jurus
The Jurus are the foundation or base work of Pukulan Cimande.
Once mastered they can be broken down and used for defensive applications.
Juru #1 and Juru #2 are known as the male and female Jurus of the system. The #1 Juru starts all the odd numbers and Juru #2 all the even numbers. This is important to remember when you start practicing and learning the Jurus. All the Jurus are learned on both the right and left sides. Starting from the Simba postion: a cat stance with a shaolin hand position, left hand covering the right fist, or as in number 2 where the forearm is held even with the floor and two fingers on the wrist.
The Jurus all begin with a stomping motion of the feet. To assimilate the stepping or stomping of the opponent's feet, to pin, punch or break? The Jurus can be trained with a fluid motion, or a slow training motion with snapping on each motion or as an aggressive attitude all out! Use speed, snap, timing, and power, along with a mental key word to start your aggressive approach to the Jurus. In the break downs of the Jurus the keys to defences in Silat. "Remember" We don't just block we punch or break, to destroy whatever comes into our range.
Juru Attitudes what they train!
In the attitude of Juru #1 it is a destruction juru, teaching to hit, enter and destroy.
In the attitude of Juru #2 it is to hit, catch, and break using an upward hitting motion.
In the attitude of Juru #3 it is the use of circular motion to catch to parry, and the application of the long range uppercut (sangsot)
In the attitude of Juru #4 it is the development of the inner gate juru (dalam) working on the inside of a punch with parry’s to elbow (sikut)
In the attitude of Juru #5 this is another elbow juru, to develop throwing it after blocking across body.
In the Attitude of Juru #6 it is the development of ricochet hitting off of your own body to hit back to the opponent. Using forearm, shoulder, thigh.
In the attitude of Juru #7 in teaches the dropping into a lower level and destruction of upward attacks and the outside ot inside wing type blocks.
The attitude of Juru #8 it teaches the first combining of Jurus. It teaches the flowing from one into the other using a combination of juru #1- #6-#3
The attitude of Juru #9 this is the application of the first simultaneous parry and sweep motion (sapu)
The attitude of #10 this juru is a revolving juru in that it teaches, to move into two different directions front to back, then back to the front again. (Pivoting on the heels of the feet.)
The attitude of Juru #11 In this juru again you develop a lead leg sweep (sapu) to the outside of the body followed with a elbow (sikut).
The attitude of Juru #12 is to learn to defend against low/Middle kicks, with parries to change levels to strike lower vital targets.
The attitude of Juru #13 in this juru you develop the method of multi-angle hitting (pukul)
The attitude of Juru #14 this juru you develop the method of moving forward and using circular motions to block/parry and counter simultaneously.
The attitude of Juru #15 this again is a combination juru which includes #14- #6- #3 and the attributes of the these jurus combine. Circular motion, with Ricochet hit and follow up with in long range uppercut (sangsot)
The attitude of Juru #16 this juru, develops the application or motion required to open up, the centre line, to catch kicks, and enter to apply leg sweeps and follow ups.
The attitude of Juru #17 a multiple attack juru, you develop moving from two directions forward and behind, and develop changing from a high line to a low line, back to a high line. using elbows and spear hands.
The attitude of Juru #18 In this juru you are learning the principle of bamboo, to take a blow or punch and recover into a counter attack follow up.
Principles of Jurus
1. Fluid aspect of juru #1
You can train it without the balok aboka or exchange and just deliver two fast punches. The jurus can be shortened for fighting application.
2. Utilizing the flow on the Langka Umpat (The cross)
Beginning students develop their Jurus in a straight line stepping footwork, applying them both on the right and left sides. Intermediate/advanced students learn to develop their Jurus in the lanka Umpat four corners cross pattern. To develop flowing Jurus in all four directions
3. High Gait/Low gate Jurus
Destruction blocking on the high line, and then shooting, to the low line using elbow and knee attacks that break joints all the way down.
4. The stamping foot (the thunder clap) -The snapping of the whip principle in striking and moving. The principle of grounding while striking with whip power energy, the dropping of the heels of the feet, to blend with mother earth. So that when father sky, blends with mother earth, and fire you have an explosive type of combustible energy power.
5. Here is where you develop the application of internal energies such as; father sky and mother earth energies
Examples; Earth, wind, fire, water
Water- for flowing applications
Fire- for multiple repeat strikes
Wind- for speed of movement
Earth- grounding for strong actions and strikes.
6. Principle of the flow- Bunga (flower dance)
There is no technique, but natural movements which are develop through animal characteristics and personal application of the alphabets of motion.
7. Bunga (flower dance)
This is free form movements of the body to develop with animal postures, and the development of freedom of expression with open hands and weapons. Some call it controlled recklessness, and you learn to respond to ant act, without thinking. Completely spontaneous in action.
8. Jurus at will
From the spontaneous motion of movement, you can call out any number of juru and be asked to respond instantaneously to that numbered juru.
9. Striking points
The primary goal in flowing to an attack is to destroy or stop the attack or kick. Using or applying a joint break, muscle destruction, nerve hit, or pressure point hitting.
The vital targets to attack are many, but a few are: eyes, groin, solar plexus, ears, throat front side and back, breaking of the ankles, outside inside of thighs.
The grappling aspects of Pukulan Cimande comes from the low line stances of the tiger, with it's clawing, biting, ear destructions and ripping actions.
Mental Development
1. There are 3 parts to man - Mind-body-Spirit. All of these most be developed
to keep within the balance of human development.
2. Introspection; filter you thoughts what is getting in?
3. Physical body development; Keep active everyday
4. Mental recall techniques; up to 10 min. a day, see if you can recall
something you seen in a store window or at work, try to look back on what you
see a week ago.
5. Mental thoughts: get a thought and try to hold on to it for 1 min.
6. Concentration on no thoughts up to 10 min.
7. Introspection of five negative emotions and their levels of effect
8. Auto suggestion, affirmations of positive statements at morning and sleep at
least 30 min. a day.
9. Breathing in Idea's 7 times in and 7 times out 7 times without an idea.
10. Let go of negative creature traits, wash away your mind
11. Become more aware with self thoughts
12. Breathing . with hands crossed on your chi centre below your belly bottom,
13. Ball push down breathing techniques, imagine that you are standing in waist
deep water and you are pushing a ball down into the water, inhale and let the
ball float upwards and exhale and push the ball downwards.
